Thoughts and Prayers

"Thoughts and Prayers" has become something of an internet meme this decade, largely thanks to gun-control. I get it. Often we need to pray AND get out and help. DO something. When our car broke down 700 miles from home last week we prayed a lot as a family, but in the end it was the guy at Jiffy Lube that turned out to be the angel answering those prayers.

But I hope we don't let the need for action and human help undermine the enormous power of prayer in our lives. When finances get ugly, when illness strikes, when vital opportunities hang in the balance, I'll take your prayers, all of them, each and every time. I've SEEN prayer work in my own life and in the lives of my friends and family consistently and constantly over the years. It's powerful. And it's meaningful. To me.

So yes, a plate of cookies or a helping hand will always sweeten the deal, right!? But I for one will always greatly appreciate and value any prayer you might ever care to offer up. And I hope you'll accept and value the prayers we offer on your behalf too. Take care.
